The Phoenix Win Girls PSL Title

On Sunday, the Detroit Renaissance Phoenix (18-0, DPSL Blue) defeated the Cass Tech

Technicians (11-9, DPSL Blue) by a score of 56-25 and winning the PSL Girls title.

From the start of this game, the Phoenix was in control. They scored first and never gave up the

lead. They outscored the Technicians 11-6 in the first quarter.

The second quarter was more of the same. Renaissance once again outscored Cass Tech, this

time 18-7, and took a 29-13 lead into halftime.

The second half saw no shift in momentum. The Phoenix outscored the Technicians 27-12 in the

second half and went on to win easily 56-25.

It is important to point out that Renaissance scored more points in each half (29 and 27) than

Cass Tech scored in the entire game (25). Cass Tech was also held to less than 10 points in each

of the four quarters.

Christian Sanders and Amyah Espanol had big games for the Phoenix. Sanders was 6 of 20 from

the floor, including 1 of 9 from beyond the arc, as well as 2 of 2 from the free throw line. She

had 15 points, 2 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Espanol was 6 of 16 from the field, including 2 of 6 from three, as well as 1 of 2 from the free

throw line. She had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 7 steals.
