Phoenixes Scorch Hamtramck in Win

On Wednesday, the Renaissance Phoenix (5-0, DPSL) defeated the Hamtramck Cosmos (3-4, MMAC) by a score of 66-24. 

The Phoenix came out of the gate and immediately dominated. They scored first to take the lead and they never gave it up. They held the Cosmos to single digits in each of the four quarters played. 

Renaissance went into halftime with a 44-11 lead. They came out in the third quarter and continued their domination. At one point in the third, they led the Cosmos by 48 points. 

Despite the Cosmos outscoring the Phoenix in the fourth quarter 9-5, they were unable to mount a comeback. Renaissance went on to win by a score of 66-24. 

Anaya Hardy, Naveah Otis, and Christian Sanders all had big games for the Phoenix. Hardy was 8 of 9 from the field. She had 16 points and 4 rebounds. Otis was 7 of 9 from the floor. She had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Sanders was 5 of 8 from the field, including 1 of 4 from three and 1 of 2 from the free throw line. She had 12 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. 

Renaissance will take on East Kentwood (3-1, OK-Red) on 1-2 as they look to remain undefeated. Hamtramck will take on Warren Michigan Collegiate (5-2, CSC-East) on 1-6.
