On Thursday night, the Hamtramck Cosmos (5-2, MMAC-Black) defeated the Romeo Bulldogs (2-3, MAC-White) by a score of 85-57.

The offense was on display for each side early. The Cosmos and the Bulldogs traded buckets and the lead. One thing that hurt Romeo early on was turnovers. They had five early on and Hamtramck took advantage.

Towards the end of the first quarter, Hamtramck began to pull away. They ended the first quarter with a 19-11 lead.

Early in the second quarter, the Cosmos added to their lead, making it a 22-11 game; however, the Bulldogs did not back down. They went on a 7-0 run, cutting the lead to four.

In the final minutes of the half, Hamtramck would take advantage of offensive rebounds to go on a 13-7 run and take a 35-25 lead into the half.

The third quarter saw a lot of offense on both sides. Despite keeping up with the Hamtramck offense, the Bulldogs were never able to cut into the Cosmos lead. Hamtramck had an answer for almost every basket the Bulldogs scored.

As the third quarter ended, Hamtramck had a comfortable 59-43 lead over Romeo.

In the fourth quarter, Hamtramck began putting this game away. They outscored the Bulldogs 26-14 in the quarter and never gave Romeo a chance of mounting a comeback. The Comos won by a final score of 85-57.

Arkell Boyd, Amari Allen, and Charles Bailey all had big games for Hamtramck. Boyd went 6 of 10 from the field, including 5 of 9 from three. He had 17 points, 4 offensive rebounds, and an assist.

Allen went 10 of 18 from the field, including 3 of 6 from three. He had 25 points, 9 rebounds, an assist, and four steals.

Bailey went 7 of 18 from the field, including 3 of 7 from three. He had 21 points, 9 rebounds, and two assists.

Hamtramck will look to extend their winning streak as they play Grand Rapids Christian (3-0, OK-White) on 12-29. Romeo will be looking to bounce back from Thursday’s loss as they play Utica Eisenhower (3-2,  MAC-White) on 1-6.
