Eaglets Rout the Cranes on SeniorNight

On Saturday, the Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Eaglets (15-9-0, MIHL-North) defeated the

Cranbrook Cranes (6-19-0, MIHL-North) by a score of 9-1.

It was senior night for Orchard Lake and the seniors on the team were recognized in a ceremony

before the game.

The Eaglets started the scoring 2:56 into the first period. Julian Johnston found the back of the

net, giving Orchard Lake a 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Luke Rice added to their lead, making it 2-0. 17 seconds later, St.

Mary’s added another. Kyle Kavc scored, making it 3-0.

Alex Connon joined the fun less than a minute later, burying it behind Gunnar Dudler and

making it a 4-0 game. All four goals were scored in a span of 2 minutes and 34 seconds.

Rento Saijo finally got the Cranes on the board on a power play, finding the back of the net and

making it a 4-1 game. This was the score going into the first intermission.

Just under six minutes into the period, Connon scored his second of the goal, cashing in on the

power play and making it 5-1. A minute and twenty-three seconds later, Rice scored his second

of the game, making it 6-1.

The Eaglets would score again with 2:35 left in the second period. Luka Pivec scored and gave

OLSM a 7-1 lead going into the third period.

With 11:09 left in regulation, Reiss Williams scored, making it 8-1. 27 seconds later, Brennan

Morgan scored, making it 9-1. The game ended after this goal as the mercy rule in high school

hockey is 8 goals.

Michael Fett played great in net, making 16 saves on 17 shots faced. Gunnar Dudler had a rough

night in net, making 20 saves on 29 shots faced.

Orchard Lake’s next game will be on 2-23, but their opponent has yet to be determined.

Cranbrook will play Bishop Foley (4-21-0) on 2-24.
