Central Blaze Their Way to a City Championship

On Friday, the Detroit Central Trail Blazers (8-0, DPSL-G) defeated Detroit Southeastern Jungaleers (5-3, DPSL-G) by a score of 31-14. The Trailblazers remain undefeated and take home the DPSL-G City Championship. 

Central got the scoring started with about six minutes. The Trail Blazers forced a safety after Isaiah Clemmons was tackled in the endzone, giving Central a 2-0 lead. 

Southeastern would take the lead in the final seconds of the first quarter. Julian Liddell ran for 23 yards, giving the Jungaleers a 6-2 lead, after a missed extra point. 

Central responded minutes into the second quarter. Jeveion Lewis found DeMarcus Brown for a 21-yard touchdown reception. The Trail Blazers took a 9-6 lead. 

Southeastern would give Central a taste of their own medicine. Southeastern would tackle Lewis for a loss of -2, forcing a safety. This made it a 9-8 game. 

In the final seconds of the first half, Lewis would find Anthony Walk for a 25-yard touchdown. This extended their lead to 17-8

The third quarter saw no scores by either side. But quickly into the fourth quarter, Southeastern would cut into Central’s lead. Liddell would run 5 yards and find the endzone, making it 17-14 after another missed extra point by the Jungaleers. 

Shortly after, Central would respond. Lewis would find Decarlos White for a 70-yard touchdown reception. The Trail Blazers would convert for two points, making it a 25-14 game. 

Central would score one last time in the final minutes of the game. Lewis would run three yards into the endzone. After a missed extra point, the score was 31-14, which would go on to be the final score. 

The G’s of the Game, presented by GBrand USA were awarded to Tristan Duncan and Decarlos White. Duncan had 4 tackles and a sack in the game while playing both sides of the ball. White had two runs for 13 yards. He also had two receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown.
