Cass Tech Wins Critical Game Against Division Rival

On Friday night, the Cass Tech Technicians (5-3, DPSL-B) defeated the Martin Luther King Crusaders (5-2, DPSL-B) by a score of 28-14. The Technicians clinched the DPSL-B City Championship and secured their spot in the playoffs. 

Cass Tech got the scoring started late in the first quarter. Leeshaun Mumpfield would find Corey Sadler Jr for a 39-yard touchdown reception, making it 7-0. 

Halfway through the second quarter, the Technicians doubled their lead. Sean Hodges ran two yards into the endzone, making it 14-0. 

Shortly after, the Crusaders would get on the board. Dante Moore would find Jameel Croft Jr for a 72-yard touchdown reception, making it 14-7. 

Less than a minute later, the Crusaders would find the endzone again. Moore would find Sterling Anderson Jr for a 14-yard catch, tying the game 14-14 going into halftime. 

No points would be scored until the final seconds of the third quarter. Mumpfield would run the ball but fumble it. Luckily, Jaylen Washington would recover the ball in the endzone for a touchdown, giving Cass Tech a 21-14 lead. 

Late in the fourth quarter, Cass Tech would add another touchdown. Mumpfield would find Sadler for a 21-yard touchdown pass, making it a 28-14 lead. The Technicians would win by that score.

The G’s of the Game, presented by GBrand USA were given to Corey Sadler Jr, Jalen Thompson, and Leeshaun Mumpfield. Sadler had four receptions for 79 yards and two touchdowns. He had a punt return for 23 yards and three kick returns for 89 yards. Thompson had three tackles, two for losses, as well as a sack. Mumpfield had 12 passed for 178 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 15 rushes for 29 yards, as well as two punts for 89 yards.
