Warriors Hand Giants Their First Loss of the Season

On Saturday, the Brother Rice Warriors (11-1, CHSL-Central) defeated the Kalamazoo Central Giants (9-1, SMAC-East) by a score of 67-50.

The first quarter of the game was evenly matched. Both teams scored 16 points as the Warriors and Giants went back and forth.

In the second quarter, Brother Rice began to pull ahead. 10 seconds into the quarter, they took the lead. As the second went on, they added to their lead and were winning by a score of 38-27 going into halftime.

For the remainder of the game, Brother Rice was in control. Despite their best efforts, Kalamazoo Central was unable to mount a comeback. The Warriors went on to win 67-50, handing the Giants their first loss of the season.

The GBrand G of the Game was given to Xavier Thomas. He went 6 of 15 from the floor and 1 of 2 from the free throw line. He had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Curtis Williams also had a good game. He was 8 of 20 from the field, including 4 of 9 from beyond the arc. He had 20 points and 6 rebounds.

On 1-24, Brother Rice will take on U of D Jesuit (10-1, CHSL-Central) as they look to continue their winning ways. Kalamazoo Central will look to bounce back from their first loss as they play Mattawan (10-0, SMAC) on 1-24.
