Blue Devils Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

On Friday night, the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils (13-3, MAC-Red) defeated the L’Anse

Creuse North Crusaders (6-9, MAC-Red) by a score of 61-54.

From the start, this was an incredibly competitive game. The Blue Devils and Crusaders went

back and forth in the opening half. The teams traded buckets and the lead numerous times.

In the first quarter, the Blue Devils outscored the Crusaders 16-15. In the second quarter, the

Crusaders had the advantage, outscoring Grosse Pointe South 13-12. The game was tied at 28

going into halftime.

The third quarter was just as competitive as the first two. The Crusaders did have a slight edge,

outscoring the Blue Devils 14-11 and taking a 32-29 lead into the final quarter.

For much of the fourth quarter, these teams played a close game. It was not until the final

minutes of the match that the Blue Devils began to pull ahead. Despite a valiant effort from the

Crusaders, they were unable to reclaim the lead and the Blue Devils went on to win 61-54.

Anthony Benard and Karter Richards had big games for the Blue Devils. Benard was 8 of 18

from the floor, as well as 4 of 5 from the free throw line. He had 20 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

Richards was 6 0f 9 from the field, including 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, as well as 4 of 5 from

the free throw line. He had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Grosse Pointe South will take on Macomb Dakota (6-7, MAC-Red) on 2-7 as they will try to

remain undefeated in conference play. L’Anse Creuse North will play Roseville (10-6, MAC-

Red) on 2-7 as they look to get a much-needed victory.
