#6 Brother Rice facing off against #8 Liggett in game three of the CHSL semifinals

The 19-8 Warriors will take on the 15-9 Knights for a top 10 in-state and inner-league matchup in the third game of the CHSL semifinal slate at Comerica Park.

Brother Rice will send out senior Robert Klann to start. The right hander has a fastball that gets up in the lower 90s with a changeup and a slider to complement. Against Detroit Edison he went four innings, threw six strikeouts, and only gave up one run.

Michigan commit Kurt Barr will be on the mound to begin the game for Liggett on the other side. The All-League right hander has a fastball that reaches 90 miles per hour with a 2300 spin rate along with a curveball in his arsenal. In the win against Lutheran Westland he went three innings and struck out two-thirds of the batters he faced.

On the offensive side for the Warriors, Michigan commit Alfredo Velazquez will be a batter to watch out for. The All-Catholic outfielder and left handed pitcher went 3-4 with three doubles in game two of their doubleheader against De La Salle.

On the opposite side for the Knights, Michigan commit Jarren Purify is a player Brother Rice can not afford to take lightly. The All-Catholic junior went 2-5 with 2 RBIs and a stolen base in game one of their doubleheader against UofD Jesuit.

The winner between the legendary skippers Bob Riker and Dan Cimini’s squads will play the winner of #1 St. Mary’s Prep. and Detroit Catholic Central in the final. The broadcast can be found on our Youtube and that link can be found here: https://youtu.be/iT1JaQh0ADI
