The Irish were not so lucky this afternoon as they came into Orchard Lake for the number one team in the country's senior day.
Senior Davenport commit Brandon Skorupski started on the mound for O.L.S.M, but only lasted two innings as freshman Paul Toovalian took over in the third. After getting through more than three innings and only giving up one run, the Eaglets let senior Will Stuligross finish the game and record the last five outs.
For NDP, freshman Vincenzo Tartaglia got to take the rubber first. He only pitched two innings and allowed four earned Eaglets to cross home plate. Five runs came in that inning in total. Junior Connor McCann relieved Tartaglia in the third and pitched two solid innings of two run ball. MJ Peters finished the game for the Irish, not before allowing two solo shots from Michigan commit Nolan Schubart and Auburn commit Ike Irish.
The player of the game on the offensive side for the Eaglets was none other than Irish. The G Brand G of the game finished the game with a homerun, a double, 2 runs batted in, and was 2-3 at the plate overall.
For Notre Dame, junior Jeremy Gale was the only Irishman to get on base twice but their lone run came off the bat of senior Ben Sermo on a ground out double play. Not much went right today for NDP.
With the 10-1 win, Matt Petry and St. Mary’s move to 31-0 on the season and keep their perfect season bid alive as Jason Gendreau and his squad fall to 8-11-1 on the year. The Eaglets are in action tomorrow as well as they face off against Detroit Country Day. We will have coverage of that matchup as O.L.S.M. will attempt to sweep the regular season series versus the Yellowjackets.
