#1 St. Mary’s Prep. mercies #3 Brother Rice twice to sweep double header Apr 12 Written By Chad Bush Nick Lundberg | Tuesday | April 12, 2022 | 10:00pm The #1 team in the country kept their win streak alive as the Eaglets beat up on the #3 team in the state, the Warriors, winning both games of the double header by double digits. In game one, senior Clemson commit Brock Porter went all the way for the Eaglets, finishing the six inning mercy with a no hitter. The right hander was one walk removed from a perfect game. Mary’s offense didn’t exactly light up Rice’s pitchers, rather they let Rice make the mistakes that led to the 10 run win. The Warriors let multiple wild pitches and passed balls decide the outcome long before the final pitch was thrown. In game two, Rice did not make as many mistakes as they did in the first game, but the Eaglets offense came alive with the momentum shifting play coming by way of a solo home run by senior Michigan State commit Jake Dresselhouse. The starting pitching was stellar for both squads in game two as senior Kent State commit Ciaran Caughey and sophomore Tritan Crane combined for over 10 strikeouts. The Warriors bullpen ultimately failed to keep the game close and O.L.S.M. took advantage of the shaky outings from Maclean and Vanameyde. They ended up cruising to a 12 to zero six inning win. Mary’s moves to an undefeated nine and zero mark on the season as Rice falls to eight and four. The Eaglets get a week off before they face #2 ranked G.P. Liggett on the road. You will not want to miss that showdown. Chad Bush
