In game one of their two game Saturday in metro-Flint, the number one team in the country, the Eaglets of Orchard Lake handled the Grand Blanc Bobcats 9-3 to keep their perfect season bid afloat.
Senior Nolan Higgins got the start for St. Mary’s today and did not disappoint. The future Spartan went just above four innings and recorded nine strikeouts.
Freshman Paul Toovalian and senior Jasen Oliver came in to finish off the Bobcats from the fifth inning on. Toovalian made it to one out in the bottom of the seventh while the Michigan commit Oliver recorded the last two outs to make the score official.
Northwood commit Nate Helms started the day on the mound for Grand Blanc, but got roughed up early on, forcing the Bobcats to go to their bullpen. They ended up using three more pitchers after Helms to get through the game, though only one got through his outing unscathed.
At the plate, Auburn commit Ike Irish delivered five runs for the Eaglets. The G Brand G of the game hit a three sun shot in the fifth inning and a two run single later on. He was on fire this morning.
For the Bobcats, junior Travis Parsons had a solid outing in the batter’s box. He finished 1-2 with a single and two walks, reaching a base in three of his four plate appearances.
In game two, O.L.S.M. also won 13-1 against Macomb Dakota. With the sweep today, Matt Petry and the Eaglets remain perfect this season, now sitting at 37-0.
