The number one team in the country, the Eaglets, will take on the Grand Blanc Bobcats on the road tomorrow morning.
Michigan State commit Nolan Higgins will get the nod to start for the Eaglets. The senior has a fastball that can reach 90 mph. This season, he is a perfect 3-0 with 37 strikeouts and a sub two earned run average in over 25 innings of work.
For the Bobcats, Northwood commit Nathan Helms will be on the mound to start. The senior possesses a fastball that sits in the lower 80s with a spin rate above 2200 along with a curveball and a changeup to complement. In game two of their double header against Mount Pleasant on May 16th, he went five innings and recorded six Ks and only gave up one earned run.
A player to watch out for at the plate for O.L.S.M. is Michigan commit Jack Crighton. The senior had not played in 3.5 weeks but hit the go-ahead game winning single in St. Mary’s CHSL title victory over #3 Brother Rice. If he gets back in shape before the playoffs get started teams will have an even tougher time trying to knock off the defending champions.
Notre Dame commit David Lally is a hitter St. Mary’s can not allow to get hot if they want to keep their perfect record intact. This season he has above a .400 batting average and seven home runs to boot.
Kevin Hubbs and the Bobcats will attempt to end Matt Petry and his Eaglet’s perfect season bid tomorrow morning at 11am ET. St. Mary’s will also play a second game tomorrow but we will only have coverage of their first game. The broadcast can be found on our YouTube which is linked here: https://youtu.be/woP7v3kIUEs.
