#1 St. Mary’s Prep. downs #10 Detroit Country Day to keep perfect season bid rolling

Eaglet Paul Toovalian shined in his first start this season in St. Mary’s 7-2 victory over the Yellowjackets in Beverly Hills this afternoon.

The freshman right hander threw four solid innings and showed why his stuff has O.L.S.M. excited for his future with the program.

Senior Hope commit Will Stuligross, junior Penn commit Anthoni Kiafoulis, and junior Michigan commit Jasen Oliver all came in and shut the door on Country Day, following in Toovalian’s footsteps.

For the Yellowjackets, sophomore Michigan commit Tyler Inge got roughed up by the Eaglet’s bats early, forcing Head Coach Steve Lepkowski to dig into his bullpen. He found his answer to the Eaglet offense in senior Michigan football commit Brandon Mann, albeit too little too late. The 3 star quarterback and two play baseball player did a very nice job of limiting St. Mary’s offense from the third inning on.

Offensively for the Eaglets, senior Michigan State commit Jake Dresselhouse had the most notable performance. He blasted a two run home run to help St. Mary’s secure their 16th win of the year.

For the Yellowjacket offense, there was not much to cheer for. An RBI single from Clayton Hartje and a steal of home base by junior Dylan Lepkowski on a double steal call accounted for Detroit Country Day’s only runs of the afternoon.

For their next matchup, St. Mary’s will look to keep their perfect season alive and will get to head back home for a double header against De La Salle on Wednesday at 4 P.M. ET, stay tuned for our coverage for that matchup.
