The #1 team in the country, the Eaglets, downed the #3 team in the state according to The PreP, the Knights, 13-2 and 7-4 respectively to move their undefeated season win total to 25.

The standouts of game one for St. Mary’s were the two pitchers, Nolan Higgins and Brock Porter, but Porter did not make an impact on the mound, he did it behind the plate.

Porter, the Clemson commit, who is also a projected first round MLB draft pick, blasted two long balls, moving his season total to three, as well as knocking in five runs. Those numbers earned him the honors of being the G Brand G of the game.

On the other side, Lansing CC commit Nolan Higgins threw five solid innings of two run ball, recording nine strikeouts over those innings.

Davenport commit Brandon Skorupski came in to shut down the Knights in the sixth.

For Liggett, Michigan commits Preston Barr and Matthew Greene were both roughed up by the Eaglet bats, allowing 13 runs all together.

Offensively, Greene helped his own cause with an RBI double and fellow Michigan commit and brother of Preston, Kurt Barr added an RBI double of his own.

In game two, the score was closer but the result remained the same.

Ryan Mooney’s performance separated him from his teammates, as he got on base in three out of his four at-bats. He hit a two run shot in his third plate appearance to give him his only hit and RBIs of the game to go along with his two walks. The performance earned him the G Brand G of the game honor as well.

On the rubber, St. Mary’s got the job done by committee. The starter, sophomore Aidan Donovan gave up two runs in less than two innings pitched. Kent State commit Ciaran Caughey then came in to relieve Donovan but gave up a homerun before Skorupski stepped in to get the Eaglets through the third and fourth innings. Michigan commit Jasen Oliver appeared in the fifth and closed the door on the Knights, only allowing one run in the seventh inning.

For Liggett, freshman Blake Illitch was as good as one can be against O.L.S.M. in just under five innings, allowing six Eaglets to touch home plate.

Michigan commit Reggie Sharpe and Joey Randazzo came in to relieve Illitch in the last two innings, as Randazzo allowed the Eaglets seventh run to score in the final inning of play.

Texas commit Oliver Service carried the offensive load for Liggett, batting in two runs, one being himself off of a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Dan Cimini and the Knights move to 10-7 on the year with the losses as Matt Petry and O.L.S.M. continue their season long winning streak.

The Eaglets next duel will be against Brother Rice, this time in Orchard Lake, in the form of a double header on Wednesday at 4 P.M. ET. We will have coverage of that matchup for you.
