The Lady Zebras Come from Behind to Beat Cass Tech in the Final Seconds

On Tuesday, the Wayne Memorial Zebras (4-3, KLAA-East) narrowly defeated the Cass Tech Technicians (3-2, DPSL) by a score of 60-59. 

The entirety of this game was back and forth. This is a game that saw 11 lead changes, 6 ties, and 119 total points scored. 

In the second quarter, it appeared that Cass Tech was starting to pull away, leading by 11 points with 45 seconds left in the half. The Technicians took a 32-24 lead into halftime. 

The second half saw the Zebras claw their way back. They outscored the Technicians 14-12 in the third quarter and went into the fourth down 6. 

The fourth quarter was electric. The Zebra fought back to tie the game. The final minutes saw the lead change multiple times. 

In the final seconds, Cass Tech tied the game at 59 with 14 seconds left. Charging down the court Mayla Ham was able to draw a shooting foul with 8 seconds left. She missed the first free throw, but nailed the second, giving her team the 60-59 victory. 

Mayla Ham and Colleen Bryant both had big games for the Lady Zebras. Ham went 8 of 15 from the floor, including 1 of 7 from three and 4 of 8 from the free throw line. She scored 21 points with 1 assist, 2 blocks, 3 steals, and 8 rebounds. Bryant was 4 of 12 from the field, as well as 10 of 13 from the free throw line. She scored 18 points with 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. 

Cass Tech will take on Lake Fenton (6-0, FML-Stars) on 12-30. Wayne Memorial will play Belleville (4-2, KLAA-East) on 1-6.
