On Friday night, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (2-4, CHSL-C) will take on Detroit Catholic Central (4-2, CHSL-C) in a pivotal rivalry matchup.
St. Mary’s is coming off a huge victory, beating Brother Rice (2-4, CHSL-C) by a score of 15-7. Catholic Central is coming off a loss, falling 28-0 to De La Salle (5-1, CHSL-C).
These two teams have faced off 34 times in their history. Catholic Central has won 20 of those matchups while St. Mary’s has won 14.
This matchup will have huge implications when it comes to playoff contention. The winner will earn a share of the CHSL Central Division Title with Warren De La Salle. DLS wins the tie breaker between both teams.
This game will be a bit of a challenge for Catholic Central, as they are coming off a short week, having last played on Sunday. In addition, they are down in depth defensively. One positive is that RB Evan Haegar will be back after getting injured early in the game last week.
The game will be played at Msgr. Milewski Field at St. Mary’s Prep and coverage will begin live on The Prep YouTube and NFHS at 6:45 with a 7:00 kickoff.
