Bulldogs Defeat Division Rival Northville

On Friday night, the Brighton Bulldogs (5-0, KLAA-W) took on the Northville Mustangs (4-1, KLAA-W). The Mustangs have dominated the all-time series between the two teams; however, Brighton was able to come out on top 17-14. 

The game remained scoreless for much of the first quarter. Northville broke the tie with 4:30 left in the first. Luca Prior found Angelo Rodriguez for a 20-yard touchdown reception, giving the Mustangs a 7-0 lead. 

The Bulldogs would tie it up early in the second quarter. QB Collin McKernan would rush five yards and find the endzone, tying the game at seven. 

About three minutes later, Northville would regain the lead. Caleb Moore would run 2 yards into the endzone, putting the Mustangs up by a touchdown. 

The Bulldogs would tie the game yet game. Around three minutes after Northville took the lead, Carson Shrader would run 14 yards and even the score 14-14. 

The game would remain tied until the final minutes of the third quarter. Braeden Chiles would kick a 34-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 17-14 lead. Brighton went on to win by this score. 

The G’s of the Game, presented by GBrand USA, were given to QB Colin McKernan and free safety Andrew Stewart. McKernan had 5 rushes for 18 yards and a touchdown. He also 20 completed passes for 173 yards. Stewart had 7 tackles, one of which was for a loss of yards. 

Next Friday, Northville will try to bounce back against on the road and Salem (0-5, KLAA-W). Brighton will attempt to remain undefeated as they take on Canton (1-4, KLAA-W) at home next week.
