Eaglets Win Regional Title

On Wednesday, the Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Eaglets (13-11, CHSL-C) defeated the North

Farmington Raiders (19-2, OAA-Red) by a score of 56-44 to win the Regional 7 title.

In the opening quarter, the game started with the Eaglets and Raiders trading baskets. As the

quarter went on, the Raiders began to pull ahead. North Farmington led 13-10 going into the

second quarter.

The Raiders added to their lead, getting it as high as 9 at one point in the second quarter. North

Farmington had the clear upper hand in the quarter and took a 26-19 lead into the half.

The Eaglets came out soaring in the second half. They started the third quarter on a 9-2 run,

pulling to within a basket.

For the rest of the third quarter, the score fluctuated and the lead changed. The two teams went

into the fourth quarter tied at 34.

Orchard Lake came out firing in the final quarter. With just over five minutes left in the game,

Trey McKenney would hit a deep three-pointer, giving the Eaglets a 39-36 lead. They never gave

up the lead again. They outscored the Raiders 22-10 in the fourth quarter and would win 56-44.

The Eaglets went from finishing in last place in their division to winning five consecutive games

and winning a regional title.

Sharod Barnes was named the GBrand G of the Game with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan

Hurst led the scoring for North Farmington with 18 points.

Orchard Lake will take on Warren De La Salle (17-8, CHSL-C) on 3-21. After the game, Barnes

looked ahead to this game, saying “We gonna celebrate tonight, but it’s back to work tomorrow”.
